Rev. Mary returns Monday July 1st! – And on Sunday, July 7th, we’ll have a “Welcome Back” reception after church! Please bring a light appetizer to share! Mary said she plans to have Olivia with her! Yippee!
We have a special guest joining our service on June 30th – Joan Miller, Soloist. Joan is the Choir Director at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amherst (Randy Wilburn’s church). The choir is currently on break, which is why she is available to join us. Joan is a first-year graduate student at the Univ of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she is studying Choral Conducting. She also directs the UMass Women’s Choir. Please come help give Joan a warm welcome to Trinity of Ware. This will also be the last Sunday Rev. Eliot Moss will be leading us in Holy Eucharist. Rev. Moss has been with us five Sundays and we have enjoyed his spiritual leadership and friendship very much. June 30th is also Youth Sunday so let’s be there to show them our love!!
Pat Turley is home! Not quite ready to do the limbo but getting stronger every day. And Bill Andresen is counting the days to get through his surgery set for July 16th. Please keep prayers, phone calls and cards going for both Pat and Bill!
Extreme Tour, an inspirational community experience featuring interaction with youth through music (our own Seth Newton) and activities, will arrive at the Davis House/Living Room in the late afternoon of July 29th. It would be wonderful to show our gratitude with a refrigerator full of food! A crockpot of veggie chili would be great, ham and cheese wraps, fruit, and cookies of all shapes and sizes to last three days! There will be 20 – 30 people in the group.
The group will spend two days getting to know youth throughout Ware and sharing God’s word. They will perform a Free Concert on July 31st from about 3 – 8 pm featuring uplifting rock music for all ages, at the Grenville Park Bandshell and Pavilion. The concert is rain or shine. Your help is needed to make food and to help at the concert! Barb Newton is coordinating this visit – please contact Barb to arrange to donate food and to help with the concert on July 31st! Even if you only have an hour or two, there is a job for you!
Next Vestry meeting – The next meeting is July 9th, in the Living room at 6:30 pm. (There is a CPR class being taught in Morrill Hall) All are welcome to attend! If you would like to receive Vestry minutes, let Buffy know at 413-967-6100.
The Car Wash on June 1st raised $500 and a second one is planned for July 20th at NAPA from 9 – 1 to raise funds for Extreme Tour. Please plan to volunteer your time to help wash cars – if you can only volunteer for an hour – please come!! And of course, bring your car! A $10 donation is requested!
Updates on two of our own youth. Stephanie Cofske will be spending her summer at UMass Medical School researching how chromosome structure influences nuclear processes! Reid III just returned from the American Legion Boys State which is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for US high school students, and he will soon head to New Mexico for a survival experience with the Boy Scouts – no showers, no toothbrushes! We’ll look forward to hearing about that!
CPR Course coming July 9th
On Tuesday, July 9th, through a grant to the Jubilee Diaper Ministry, Trinity will offer a CPR course for lay rescuers (non-professional individuals). The course runs from 6 – 8:30 pm. Kimela Webb, an instructor for the American Heart Association and Baystate Health and a graduate of Springfield College, will teach this course. This course is free to the public – register with Buffy if you are interested.
“First Monday” Diaper Distribution – The Jubilee Diaper Ministry is open the first Monday of the month (unless it is a holiday) from 4 – 6. For “Safe Church’ reasons, two people are supposed to volunteer. If anyone is available July 1st and/or August 5th to help, please contact Edie at email@example.com. Thank you!
Newcomer’s Committee – The committee will set its first meeting date after Rev. Mary is back. They will be planning some type of event for the fall.
